Privacy Statement

By accessing and using the Canadian Coatings Association (CCA) online regulatory portal the Canada CoatingsHUBTM, you agree that you have read, understood, and consent to the terms and conditions for the use of the Canada CoatingsHUBTM website, as set out in the Privacy Policy. 

We are committed to protecting the privacy of our Members and online portal Users. We understand the importance of safeguarding privacy and we endeavor to provide open communication and transparency around data collection and use to our Members, and Users while they utilize our Site. This statement governs our privacy policy concerning Users of the Canada CoatingsHUBTM Site (“Users”) who visit without transacting business, and association Members (“Members”) who register to transact business on the Site and make use of the various services offered by the Canadian Coatings Association ( “Services”). “Personally Identifiable Information” refers to any information that identifies or can be used to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains, including, but not limited to, name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, financial profiles, and credit card information. Personally Identifiable Information does not include information that is collected anonymously (that is, without identification of the individual user) or demographic information not connected to an identified individual.

 

What Personally Identifiable Information is collected?

Our web server automatically collects and aggregates information about Users who visit or Members who log in to www.canadacoatingshub.ca, including; IP address, service provider, browser type, domain names of referring websites, operating system, pages accessed on the Site, and the date and time of access. This information is not personally identifiable. We analyze this aggregated information to optimize user experience and enhance time spent online. Personal Identifiable Information collected includes; name, addressing information, city, postal code, credit card information, company name and/or address.

Use of Information We Collect

Personal information is collected and used in several ways:

  • To fulfill requests and process online transactions including;
    • Canadian Coatings Conference Registration
    • Sponsorship Purchases
    • Advertising Purchases
    • Membership Purchase or Renewal
    • Subscription Purchase or Renewal
  • To respond to email messages;
  • To support a working relationship with CCA.

For example, if you register to CCA's Canadian Coatings Conference online with your name, e-mail or postal address, you may receive mailings or be contacted by CCA with information concerning new information, services or publications available. You can unsubscribe to mailings from us at any time. Please refer to this policy's “Opt Out” section for details on the “Opt Out” process.

We may combine the personal information that we collect from you on our websites with other information that you provide to us in connection with your use of our other products and services. The data collected such as basic user profile information, is collected from our Users or Members and only if provided by the Users or Members. We collect the following additional information: names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and credit card information but for the sole purpose of processing a transaction. Credit card information is not stored or saved.

 

What organizations are collecting the information?

Third-Party Relationships

We occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services on behalf of CCA, including administering surveys and processing event registration. We will only provide such companies with the personal information needed to deliver the service that we have requested of them. They are prohibited from using the personal information provided for any other purpose, and we make reasonable efforts to ensure that all third parties with whom we share personal information undertake to adhere to this policy. We will not otherwise share your personal information with third parties unless you have permitted us to do so.

Disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information to comply with the Law

CCA will disclose or use your personal information to comply with a court order or subpoena or a request from a law enforcement agency to release information when we, in good faith, believe that either the law requires us to do so, or such action is necessary to protect or defend CCA’s rights or property.

Links to Third Party Websites and use of Discussion Forums

Websites accessed from www.canadacoatingshub.ca via hyperlinks or links to other sites may be governed by privacy policies and practices that differ from the CCA privacy policy. The information practices of other third-party websites linked to www.canadacoatingshub.ca are not covered by this Policy. You are encouraged to become familiar with the privacy policies and practices of every website you visit before disclosing any personal information. CCA’s major third parties include Moneris, Google, and LeadForensics. Information posted to discussion forums, bulletin boards, chat rooms and other public forums may be displayed publicly. Please consider this before posting. Note that vendors may have access to certain Personally Identifiable Information on a need-to-know basis for evaluating Users or Members for service eligibility. Our privacy policy does not cover their collection or use of this information.

Are Cookies Used on the Site?

Cookies are used for a variety of reasons. CCA uses Cookies to obtain information about the preferences of our Users and Members and the services they select.  A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identifier that is placed on your computer’s hard drive when you visit a website. We use session-based and persistent first-party cookies to improve your access and ease of use of our website. We also use first-party cookies to improve our understanding of your needs and interests, so that we can offer you personalized content and enhance your web-browsing experience. The non-personal information collected from our use of first-party cookies is not linked to your personal information. Cookies do not damage your system or files in any way.

Most browsers now recognize when a cookie is offered and permit users to control how and when they will be accepted. How does the Canadian Coatings Association and the Canada CoatingsHUBTM use login information?

The Canadian Coatings Association and the Canada CoatingsHUBTM uses login information, including, but not limited to, IP addresses, ISPs, and browser types, to analyze trends, administer the Site, track a user’s movement, and to use and gather broad demographic information. We collect data in aggregate form and data is not recorded or stored about individual Users or Members.

 

Access, Correction, and Maintenance of Personal Information

CCA provides reasonable and practical access for you to identify inaccuracies in your personal information. If you provide us with personal information through the Canada CoatingsHUBTM website, you have the right to access this data.

To request an update, modification, or deletion of any personal information maintained by CCA, you can contact us at info@canpaint.com. We will, upon request, update or delete your personal information; however, we will not be able to update or delete data archived as part of our normal business operations.

We keep the personal information collected through our website if it is required to service your request, or until you request its deletion. We retain aggregated information collected about your visit to our website (ie. browser type, domain name, pages visited) until we have completed our review and analysis of this information. We do not add third-party data to your personal information or maintain your personal information in a merged or supplemented format.

In addition to our direct collection of information, our third-party service vendors (such as credit card companies, clearinghouses, and banks) who may provide such services as credit, insurance, and escrow services, may collect this information from our Users and Members. We do not control how these third parties use such information, but we do ask them to disclose how they use personal information provided to them by Users and Members. Some of these third parties may be intermediaries that act solely as links in the distribution chain and do not store, retain, or use the information given to them. CCA encourages all Members and Users of the Site to consult the privacy policies of third-party vendors if/when applicable to understand how they collect and retain data.

 

Security of Personal Information

CCA stores your personal information in a secure location that is accessible only by designated staff. All of our employees are familiar with our security policy and practices. CCA conducts security audits and reviews our systems and processes regularly. Sensitive information, such as credit card numbers is protected by encryption protocols, in place to protect information sent over the Internet. While we take commercially reasonable measures to maintain a secure site, electronic communications and databases are subject to errors, tampering, and break-ins, and we cannot guarantee or warrant that such events will not take place and we will not be liable to Users or Members for any such occurrences. CCA is indemnified from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction of personal information due to cyber threat actors and or online cyber security breaches.

 

Opt-out Process

We make every effort to contact you only if you have previously elected to receive communications from us. At any time, you can “opt-out” of receiving direct mail and electronic material from CCA, such as newsletters, by contacting info@canpaint.com.

In the future, should we decide to use your personal information for a purpose not currently stated in this policy. In that case, we will modify the policy to disclose such usage under the Changes to CCA Privacy Policy below.

 

Changes to CCA Privacy Policy

We may modify or amend this policy from time to time. To keep you informed of any changes, we will indicate the effective date of the currently posted policy at the top of the policy. For substantial changes to this policy, we will notify you by placing a prominent notice on our homepage. Changes to the CCA privacy policy will not affect our use of previously provided personal information. No personal information provided by you under the terms of this policy (or any prior version of this policy) will be used in a manner that is materially inconsistent with it, without your prior written permission.
