Canadian National Railway and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers are close to reaching a labor agreement, potentially averting a strike by 750 signal and communication workers. Although Canadian chemical companies leverage rail for more than 70% of their shipments, CN says it has a contingency plan in place to avoid disruption in the event of a strike.
